La ciudad de Salvador, en Brasil, tiene un barrio con construcciones de estilo colonial portugués y de llamativos colores. Hablo del barrio Pelourinho, llamado así por la presencia de un pilar de piedra sobre el que se exponían en público reos o personas condenadas. Este pilar recibe el nombre de picota que, en portugués, se traduce justamente como «pelourinho«.

Sin dudas estamos ante un lugar muy fotogénico, que sale un poco de las playas idílicas con que asociamos habitualmente a Brasil. Esta zona de la ciudad fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en el año 1985.
